NOVEMBER SHOWS!

Aloha Jihad, the new EP from Boston heavy hitters Destruct-A-Thon makes a strong statement about the current war situation we're so frustrated with. "449 Billion dollars, 3,760 lives" is one of the repeated lyrics on the break down in the title track, "count up the lives all of them died" nuff said!
"Consume With Incisor" has a fast paced thrash momentum and a nice Sam Black Church breakdown in the middle with guitarist Michelle adding her excellent vocal abilities to accent this already brutal song. "Heart Attack" is a faithful cover song by hardcore band Bravado that D-Thon used to play with on tours past. "Jet Metal Voice Text" is a (fake?) voicemail threat from Jet of Sam Black Church that makes one wonder what Duncan did to piss him off so badly. And lastly is the radio friendly version of "Aloha Jihad".
Clocking in at barely ten minutes this EP makes this D-Thon fan only drooling for more from one of the best metal bands in Boston.

Destruct-a-thon returned home to Boston last night to learn the their hometown had grown pretty damn cold in the absence! Wow was that chilly! Sadly, we said goodbye to our rental van, The White Wale of Metal, and left our practice space a little sad that the tour was over, but feeling completely accomplished and of course totally brutal!
Many thanks to all the bands we played with, the promoters who booked us and the people we stayed with. Extra special honorable mentions go out to: Sean from Krylls, Kerry and John Wilkes Booth, SpeedSpeedSpeed, Matt in DC, The Screws, Tom Hynes in Baltimore, Ben from Sam Black + Kim and Max Crandall and their awesome house in Barboursville, VA, Mark Osbourne and the legion of Black Metal fanatics in Richmond, VA, Pete from The Bouncing Souls for having a sick vinyl collection and playing it between bands at The Asbury Lanes, Jason and Layney and all the staff at Asbury Lanes, Sicker Than Most in Trenton, Caleb and his housemates in Philly, Warhawk for playing a Wargasm tune in York, PA, Shawn and Refuse Resist, Mike and Stango in Kingston, NY (we'll trade merch for beer any day!) and of course everyone who came and saw us at the gigs. STAY METAL AND DON'T GIVE IN!

Destruct-a-thon's "Aloha Jihad" powerful and cohesive By David Malachowski, Reviewer 10/17/2008
ARTIST: Destruct-a-thon ALBUM: "Aloha Jihad" This Boston-based punk, metal and thrash band features lead screamer Duncan Johnson, Michele Morgan on guitar, Sean Linehan on bass and Eric O'Brien on drums.
Title track "Aloha Jihad" kicks this collection off with a bang-an atom bomb actually, Its double-time visceral wallop is not for the meek, as Johnson rants about the high cost of war. The album goes from fast to faster with the angry explosion of "Consume With Incisor," while "Heart Attack" (from Long Island's Bravado) is more of a straight-ahead rock song, which shows the band's range.
Powerful, cohesive and not cookie cutter, this crew rocks hard and is going places.

Aloha Jihad
revieew from metalrage.com
Review By : DemonDust_
Destruct-A-Thon is a four-piece that spawned in the year 2000 to create a furious mixture of punk/hardcore, stoner-rock and thrash metal.
This new EP contains a mere ten minutes of metal attack and is more punk/hardcore orientated. Rock 'n' roll!!
Destruct-A-Thon offer two new songs that are great efforts in fast paced punk/hardcore. The up-tempo bashing and mid-tempo grooves work out really nice. Added to this mix are the familiar hardcore shout-alongs and an aggressive/drunken and sometimes slightly clean sounding vocalist. But they've also decided that their female guitarist could add some clean vocals to the mix, which was a bad call in my opinion. Fortunately this occurs only once.
The band also recorded a cover of the band Bravado from Long Island, whom called it quits in 2003 and with whom Destruct-A-Thon played some shows in the past. The song fits perfectly with the rest of the tracks. To complete the album there are two bonus tracks of which the first is a voice-mail threat message and the second is the radio edit for the title track 'Aloha Jihad'.
Overall it's a nice effort in hardcore rock 'n' roll, I just hope that next time they'll send us a longer effort than this EP!

Destruct-A-Thon - Aloha Jihad
Review by John Pegoraro (StonerRock.com)
Thrashachusetts Records Release date: August 2008
The last recorded material by Massachusetts' Destruct-A-Thon was on frontman Duncan Wilder Johnson's Workaholica three-disc set, released in 2005. The reunited band's Es Muerto ranged from pretty damn good to pretty damn forgettable, which made it pretty damn uneven. Not so with Aloha Jihad. Their two originals play on the group's strengths - thrash, thrash, and more thrash, with just a smidgen of that knucklehead Boston hardcore aesthetic - and prove to be righteously killer (especially the title track, which is a scathing critique of the Bush administration). Their cover of "Heart Attack" (originally by Long Island's Bravado) isn't too bad either, although it lacks the punch as the other two songs (and sometimes seems longer than its 2:06 running time). As for the remaining tracks, the 17 second voicemail message courtesy of Sam Black Church's Jet was amusing the first couple of times I heard it, and I'm not sure why they'd need a "radio edit" of "Aloha Jihad," except maybe to reinforce that it's one hell of a song. A consistent and strong step forward.

Good grief this thrashy hardcore outfit known as Destruct-a-Thon is totally killer. "Aloha Jihad" is a quick EP featuring two brand-new tracks, a cover, and a couple of bonus tracks. The title track is a big 'fuck you' to the Bush administration performed against the backdrop of fast hardcore punk with a firm nod to power violence. Covering Bravado's "Heart Attack" shows how fucking badass this group truly is. And how can you go wrong with the 17-second voice mail blister "Jet Metal Voice Text"? The 'radio edit' of the title track is just as boisterous as the original. This is thrashtastic!
